Your wedding doesn’t have to be costly!

Your wedding doesn’t have to be costly!

Are you ripping out your hair as you calculate your likely wedding expenses? It doesn’t have to be that way! You can actually spend less than the £20,000+ spent by the average UK couple, by cutting out some of the things that gulp money at a wedding, as shown in the infographic.

Here are some of the things to do.

Ignore choice wedding venues

“By having your wedding in a church, synagogue or even on your lawn, you can save money that would have otherwise gone to paying for a typical wedding venue” says Katie at UK Wedding Savings. As soon as ‘Wedding’ is put next to venue the price rises exponentially.

Keep things simple

In a bid to have a perfect wedding, many couples make things very complicated. Complicated wedding plans are not just expensive, they are also logistical nightmares! Cutting-out the obsession for having a talk-of-the-town wedding is the first step to saving money and avoiding wedding planning stress.

Pick your date carefully

The perfect UK wedding is often slated between June and August. The problem with this, however, is that you will have to pay a premium for essential services that you may need such as catering, entertainment, and yes, the venue. Fix your wedding out of season if you can. Most of the time, your guests won’t care! It will probably be a nice change.

Don’t shop for stationery in specialist shops

Spending too much on your invitations isn’t a great idea. No one remembers what it looks like a few days after reading it and it obviously isn’t going to decorate any tables. Therefore, shop around and grab bargains if you can find one! You can find great invites in shops and online, and hand write them beautifully to give them the personal touch. Anyone you know got great handwriting and a caligraphy pen?

Provide your own services

One time tested ways of saving money is to sort your own wedding services, such as music, photography, catering and so on. Instead of hiring a DJ or band, making a playlist of popular wedding songs and playing it over some loudspeakers will work perfectly. You can see more about this idea in this infographic.

These are just a few of the ways that you can avoid spending the extravagant sums everyone else seems to spend, whilst still putting on a wedding to remember.
